Wrockwardine Wood Football Club
Beginnings
Moving on
Due to the stringent regulations the club needed to find a ground up to County League level in the Telford area. Kevin Wynn approached local club Wrockwardine Wood F.C. who had a ground that was able to meet the criteria with a view to playing at the ground. Wrockwardine Wood agreed on the condition the side changed its name. The club then changed its name to Wrockwardine Wood United to allow the club to work seperately to its host. The Club played the 2000/01 season in the Bridgnorth League and finished second behind a much improved Norton side. The club officially resigned the Bridgnorth League in March 2001 and sought to be elected to the Shropshire County Premier League. In 2004 Wrockwardine Wood dropped the 'united' and are now known as Wrockwardine Wood FC
Joining the County League
We were duly elected to the league on Thursday the 7th of June 2001 along with Reabrook Sadlers, JFF Telford, Hopesgate United and Newport Town Reserves. In the season 2001/02 the club finished the season in 15th position with a total of 17 points. The team currently plays in red shirts with black shorts and socks. The away kit is blue with black shorts and socks . The club plays its home games at New Road (Wrockwardine Wood) Oakengates Leisure Centre.
Our aim in the beginning was to consolidate a top 10 position, unfortunately we have just missed out in past seasons. Last season we were close by finishing 11th with a total of 21 points. We are now into our 5th season, with many new faces joining the club. We now hope to push on and break into the top half of the table.
